Frequently Asked Questions

Makeup FAQ

How long does it take? Please allow 45 minutes for the bride and 30 minutes application time for each female adult. For juniors allow a minimum 20 minutes. To ensure you're ready on time please allow the minimum plus extra time to get dressed, take photographs and get to your ceremony.

Do I need to bring anything on the day? On the day of your event you just need to have a clean and moisturised face.

I have found a look in a magazine I love can you recreate it? Yes, this is often the best way to get the perfect look.

How long before my wedding do I need to book a trial? It is a good idea to book a trial about 4-6 weeks prior to your wedding. Trials are recommended, as this is where you will meet with me to discuss your preferences for makeup on your wedding day. I will apply a complete makeup look for you and take notes and a detailed face chart so your look can be recreated on your wedding day.

Tips for trials:

  • Collect a few magazine pictures of makeup styles you like.
  • Handy things to have are: colour swatch for bridesmaid's dresses and pictures of your chosen flowers.
  • Be sure to have clean, moisturised skin.

I live in Canberra can you still do my makeup? Yes I can, you just need to remember that any additional charges will be added to the cost of the service.

How long before my event should I book? ASAP, Your booking is only secure once a 25% deposit has been made. Therefore, to avoid disappointment I recommend you book in early.

I have sensitive skin; do you have products that will be ok with my skin? I use LaGlam mineral makeup, which does not contain irritants, talc, or paraben preservatives. LaGlam also boasts a high protection sunscreen of SPF20+ within the mineral foundation powders.

What brands do you use? I use a variety of professional makeup brands. Some of these include MAC, Showface, Kryolan, LaGlam, The Makeup Store and many more. There are just too many amazing brands out there to use just one and I find using only one can be quite limiting as some people may not like a particular brand or have allergies to it. Using a wide variety allows me to offer alternatives.

Can I bring my own eyelashes? Yes, this is not a problem but do try and bring them along to the trial so that I can make sure they are right, I can also provide false eyelashes on the day if needed.*

What skin preparation do I need to have? Treat your skin with the gentleness it deserves. Skincare isn't about beating your skin into shape; it's about being kind to your skin. Wash with a non-abrasive cleanser and make sure to moisturise after washing.

How can I make sure my makeup lasts all day? The professional makeup I use will last all day. However, expect the usual minor touch-ups such as replenishing your lipstick and gently blotting any shine from your face once in a while.

I have my own hairdresser who will be doing my hair can you work with her? I have worked with many hair professionals and working together is no problems at all.
