The Art of Makeup Society is a professional makeup school on the Sunshine Coast dedicated to training the next generation of artists for real industry environments.

Throughout the course you will develop strong foundations in professional makeup & hair styling while also exploring screen and media practices, SPFX techniques and the process of working from production briefs. JENNIFER - PRINCIPLE & SENIOR EDUCATOR

Jennifer is the heartbeat of The Art of Makeup Society and Principal of GEM College’s Sapphire Campus. A qualified trainer and assessor, she holds a Diploma in Specialised Makeup (2011), a Bachelor of Criminology and Justice (2020), a Certificate III in Business, plus more short courses than she can count. With over 14 years of makeup artistry experience, her knowledge spans both the classroom and the industry floor. But Jennifer is far from your average educator. When she’s not teaching or sharpening her own skills, you’ll probably find her dressed as a clown, scaring people for fun. She’s warm, a little out-of-the-box and never afraid to laugh at herself. Her style of teaching is innovative, hands-on and always delivered with heart. Jennifer doesn’t just train artists, she champions them, making sure every student feels supported, valued and part of the Society from the moment they walk in.

KAREN - ADMINISTRATION & COURSE CO-ORDINATOR

Karen is the organisational powerhouse of our Society. As our Administration and Course Coordinator, she’s the person who keeps everything running smoothly and makes sure students always feel supported. She’s also one of our founders, bringing her unique background and perspective into everything we do. A retired police officer, Karen understands the value of real-world training and the importance of discipline, professionalism and attention to detail. That experience translates seamlessly into the way she guides our students, ensuring their learning is structured, reliable and industry-ready. In her spare time, you’ll find Karen with her grandchildren and family, or brainstorming new ways to make the Society even better. She brings warmth, care and innovation to everything she touches.

TRENT - SPFX EDUCATOR

Trent is the Society’s SPFX guru, the go-to for anything and everything special effects. From sculpting prosthetics to creating larger-than-life characters, his skills cover the entire spectrum of effects artistry. If it can be imagined, Trent can build it. A qualified SPFX artist with years of hands-on experience, Trent is known for teaching others the true art of special effects, breaking down the technical, messy and sometimes chaotic processes into lessons that are fun, practical and unforgettable. Students walk away from his classes not just with skills but with the confidence to push their creativity further than they thought possible. When he’s not leading classes, Trent is busy in his workshop dreaming up new creations, partnering with schools to inspire the next generation of artists or working on local film sets. He’s the guy behind the monsters, the gore, the creatures and the characters and he absolutely loves it.

LAUREN - HAIRSTYLIST

Lauren is an accomplished hair stylist and makeup artist who brings over 15 years of professional industry experience to The Art of Makeup Society. As the founder and CEO of Loe Hair, she has built a respected hair studio and education platform while continuing to work hands on within the industry she is deeply passionate about. Her expertise spans professional hairdressing, bridal and event hairstyling and makeup artistry, allowing students to learn techniques that are both creatively refined and grounded in real world industry practice. Lauren leads the hair units within the course, guiding students through the tools, techniques and professional standards required to produce polished, event ready and production ready hairstyles. Students gain valuable insight from someone who understands the realities of working in the hair and beauty industry. Under her guidance, students are supported, inspired and in very capable hands.
